The Moral Action Committee of the BMA of Texas held its quarterly meeting on Saturday, January 29th at the BMAT headquarters in Waxahachie. Burdened hearts for the moral and spiritual state of our society guided the spirit of the meeting. A number of upcoming items of state legislation were discussed, and a plan was formulated to lobby those in Austin connected to the issues at hand.

In unanimous agreement that the Moral Action Committee needs to take proactive measures in order to keep the churches of the BMA of Texas informed and equipped to battle today’s evils, we put plans in order to develop a database of contacts from every church in the association. This is a similar concept to the past attempted system of the local church liaisons with the Moral Action Committee. Due to a number of factors, the liaison system never received much interest. Nevertheless, we believe it is imperative to have a designated contact in every BMAT church in order for the Moral Action Committee to be able to fulfill its purpose as designated by the association.

Our main emphasis in utilizing the designated contacts from the local churches will be in sending out a weekly report on current issues that we feel are important for BMA Baptists to be aware of. This will be called the Moral Action Committee Watchman Report. Each designated contact at the local churches will be responsible for relaying the MAC Watchman Reports to the church that he or she represents, whether through a bulletin insert, newsletter, or copies made available in their church foyer.

Therefore, I am writing this report to you to make you aware of our intentions in serving you, the churches of the BMA of Texas. Within the next few weeks, we will be sending a questionnaire to every pastor in the BMA of Texas. Our goal in sending it to you will be to gain a greater perspective on how we might serve you better. Within the questionnaire will be a place for you to list your church’s designated contact for the Moral Action Committee. Pastor, in the event you feel someone else would better serve as your church’s MAC contact other than yourself, we ask that you be certain that they will be diligent and committed to sharing the weekly reports with your church. Also, we ask that you have the understanding that the MAC is comprised of volunteers from the churches in the BMAT, of which most of us are pastors as well. So, since we will be taking the time to ask you how we might serve you better, we ask that you would promptly answer and return the MAC questionnaires as soon as possible. I promise they will be relatively short and take very little of your time.

For those of you who are reading this and wondering just what the Moral Action Committee is, what its purpose is, and who are its members, I encourage you to visit our web-site at www.texasmoralaction.org, drop me an email at , or give me a call at 940-989-3172. It is our joy to serve the Lord with you through the work of the Moral Action Committee! I hope the articles that the MAC has been publishing in the Baptist Progress on a biweekly basis have blessed you. If you have missed any of them or would like to read them again, you can find them on our web-site. Also on the MAC web-site are a list of helpful links to other web-sites that we believe will be of benefit to you and the ministry of your church. So, look for your questionnaires in the mail within the next few weeks. We look forward to hearing back from you. May the Lord’s work be strengthened through our efforts together! May He be glorified! May we all be challenged, motivated, and equipped to go forth into the world to which He has called us to win!
