Scurry, Texas“Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13.
In the first chapter of Exodus we read of Pharaoh ordering the drowning of all male Hebrew babies.
In the second chapter of Matthew it is recorded that Herod commanded all children around Bethlehem less than two years of age to be slain.
During WW-II a mad man named Hitler was responsible for the extermination of over 6 million Jews.
These were all crimes of convenience – selective killing because the victims were arbitrarily judged to be either sub-human, not having any value, or a threat to someone’s lifestyle. The entire world rightly deplores such terrible contempt for human life and it has always been understood that civilized people would not tolerate such conduct.
Yet there is a nation today whose cruelty and disregard of life is perhaps unsurpassed by any previous power. Every day in the United States thousands of unborn babies are sacrificed on the altar of irresponsibility and dedicated to the goddess of self indulgence. The words of Eliphaz sound like a prophecy concerning this generation when he says, “His children are far from safety, they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them” (Job 5:4). This year these precious souls will be executed without benefit of trial or jury and deprived of the God given right to live. A serial killer is given more consideration than these babies. We must persevere in our efforts, petition our politicians and pray to our God or we will perish in our apathy.
