The Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), long known for packaging pro-gay curricula under the guise of anti-bullying material, is advocating making the first week of February "No Name Calling Week." GLSEN spokesman Eliza Byard said bullying is a problem in schools, and that the annual "No Name Calling Week" helps kids find solutions. But Dr. Warren Throckmorton of Grove City College said the week is really a clever way of changing beliefs about homosexuality. The agenda is revealed in a book that gay activists are asking schools to use during the week -- "The Misfits."

The Campaign for Children and Families is lobbying against the proposal -- even before the legislation was introduced. Election Contest Hearing for Rep. Talmadge Helfin (Free Market Foundation)
Representative Talmadge Heflin will battle for the Texas House seat District 149 at the State Capitol. Last November, Representative Heflin, chair of the state appropriations committee, lost the election by only 32 votes. Since then, an investigative team has found hundreds of illegal votes attributed to double and triple voting, vote buying, ballot box stuffing and fraudulent election practices. As the most consistently conservative member of the House, Representative Heflin is responsible for keeping taxes at a minimum.
"Nobody knows the budget like Talmadge Heflin; he basically has it memorized. He is the reason we cut spending instead of raising taxes in the last legislative session when they had a $10 billion deficit," said FMF President Kelly Shackelford. The Saudi Hate Machine (American Values With Gary Bauer)
A new 89-page report by Freedom House's Center for Religious Freedom on the involvement of the Saudi Arabian government in promoting hate in the United States - yes, right here at home - is causing quite a stir among Washington policy makers. The report examined over two hundred mosques in the U.S. All of the documents were "disseminated, published or otherwise generated" by the government of Saudi Arabia. What researchers found in document after document was a virulent Wahhabi ideology that promotes hatred and bigotry. The documents teach Muslims that it is their duty to hate Christians and Jews; they denounce democracy as un-Islamic; and argue that it is a Muslim's duty to eliminate the nation of Israel. And this putrid brew of hate is readily available in mosques and Islamic centers around this country - courtesy of our Saudi "ally."

Free Market’s Legal Division Defends Pastor Sued for Following Biblical Mandates (Free Market Foundation)
Free Market’s legal division filed a brief to the Texas Supreme Court Last December in a case where a pastor was being sued for writing a letter to his congregation encouraging them to follow the Biblical mandates of Matthew 18:15-17, which outline the three-step process of helping a believer repent of sin.
Peggy Penley, who had been a member of the Crossland Community Bible Church , sued Pastor Buddy Westbrook over the letter that stated that she acted contrary to biblical teachings regarding marriage and refused to repent of her sin.
"The Constitution prohibits people from suing churches and pastors for following biblical mandates that require the church to disassociate from unrepentant sinful activity," said Hiram Sasser, director of litigation for Liberty Legal Institute.

Kade Hawkins) Church-going Americans have grown increasingly intolerant in the past four years of politicians making compromises on such hot issues as abortion and gay rights, according to a survey released last week. At the same time, those polled said they were growing bolder even at the risk of offending someone. The trends could indicate that religion has become "more prominent in American discourse" according to Ruth Wooden, president of Public Agenda, a nonpartisan research organization.
